Our mission, action plan & activity report

Since 2001, the mission of the Human Resources Sectorial Committee of the Maritime Industry (CSMOIM) has been to support employers and employees by implementing human resources and skills development projects and promoting marine-industry trades and occupations in order to help companies become more competitive and boost job growth in its activity sector.

Because it is a parity organization (equal labour/management representation), CSMOIM’s strategic position facilitates discussions between employers, workers and government organizations.

  • Sector-based knowledge: Through studies, analyses and consultation involving the sector’s organizations, to develop and maintain leading-edge indepth knowledge of the sociodemographic characteristics, needs and challenges facing marine human resources in Québec.
  • Skills development: To be active in consensus-building and coordination involving marine-sector training centres, organizations and workers, identify and support the sector’s training needs and improve access to ongoing training.
  • Human resource management: To help develop human resources management tools adapted to the maritime community.
  • Plan for human resources renewal: To contribute to ensuring that a sufficient number of new workers join the sector in the short, medium and long terms by developing and promoting marine-industry trades and careers.
