“General Knowledge of Maritime Transport” Training Course: An Overview of the Industry, to be held on April 1st 2026, in Trois-Rivières
Have you recently hired new personnel and want to support their integration? The CSMOIM invites you to register your new hires for the General Knowledge of Maritime Transport training course, which will be held on April 1st, 2026, in Trois-Rivières.
This training aims to provide basic knowledge of maritime transport by offering a comprehensive look at the main concepts, stakeholders, and operations within the sector, enabling new employees to better understand the industry's fundamentals and realities. The goal is to provide an overview of the maritime world, highlight the unique aspects of maritime transport in Canada, and illustrate the roles of the various stakeholders within the ecosystem.
Trainer and maritime expert Nicolas Parent will share his in-depth knowledge and expertise of the field to enrich the learning experience with concrete examples, followed by speakers from the Port of Trois-Rivières and Pilotage Saint-Laurent, who will present an outline of port operations and pilotage on the St. Lawrence River.
A Training Program Structured in Four Parts
The training is divided into four complementary parts:
- Introduction to maritime trasport (economic impacts, strategic role, etc.)
- Stakeholders in maritime transport (key players, liner shipping, supply chain, etc.)
- Ships (types of ships, parts of a ship, functions, etc.)
- Maritime transport in Canada (St. Lawrence – Great Lakes system, regulations and legislation, etc.)
