Study - Aboriginal employability in Quebec SMEs

The Comité sectoriel de main-d'œuvre de l'industrie maritime (CSMOIM) supports its members in their labour-scarcity challenges and encourages the hiring of members of aboriginal communities.

A research project at the School of Native Studies of the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) is currently underway, aimed at identifying the factors favoring native employability within Quebec SMEs. The project is led by Professor Joanie Caron and Professor Hugo Asselin.

We encourage you to take part in this study by completing a short online questionnaire. It takes about 20 minutes to complete, and the deadline is December 20, 2023.
The following themes will be addressed: perceptions, attitudes and behaviours towards the Aboriginal workforce, and measures to promote recruitment, integration and retention.
The participation of a large number of SMEs will enable us to draw up a provincial portrait and propose courses of action to alleviate the labour shortage in SMEs, while increasing the rate of Aboriginal employment. The CSMOIM will subsequently receive the results and report of this study.

If you have any questions about the research project, please contact Isabelle L'Heureux, a master's student at UQAT's School of Native Studies: isabelle.l'heureux@uqat.ca.
