The Quebec Maritime Day Celebrates 25 Years of Commitment and Mobilization in the Maritime Sector

Quebec City, October 29, 2025—The St. Lawrence Economic Development Council (SODES) proudly marks the 25th anniversary of the Quebec Maritime Day (QMD), held on October 28, 2025, under the theme ''The St. Lawrence at the heart of our economic and commercial security''.

Since its inception, the QMD has established itself as a strategic event promoting ongoing dialogue between the maritime community and the Government of Quebec, helping to advance key issues in the sector and government strategies.

The 2025 edition brought together a record number of more than 80 representatives from the maritime community to discuss current priorities, including:

  • Adapting to climate change
  • Investments in maritime and port infrastructures
  • Promoting maritime jobs and the next generation of maritime professionals
  • The deployment of alternative fuels

The day concluded with a series of political meetings and a networking cocktail reception attended by more than 200 participants, reaffirming the strategic role of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec's economic and commercial security.

The organization of this 25th edition was made possible thanks to the collaboration of Green Marine, the St. Lawrence Shipoperators, the Human Resources Sectorial Committee of the Maritime Industry (CSMOIM), and the Government of Quebec, whose ongoing support contributes to the QMD's vitality.

Let's start with the world!

In addition, as part of the The River Unites Us... Let's Start With the World! promotional campaign, spearheaded by the SODES, a themed box was presented to elected officials of the National Assembly. With the collaboration of 14 maritime organizations, it concretely illustrates the diversity and strategic impact of the maritime industry on Quebec's economic development.
